Here is possibly the best thing I’ve ever managed to knit. Except the pink and grey pom-pom hat, maybe.
It ended up being a bit too wide, a bit too long and probably just a bit big all over the place. But it was pretty easy to make and really satisfying to do. And my knitting maths only let me down once or twice - during particularly enthralling parts of The Sopranos.
Knitting is a funny thing, for me anyway, because I often do it to quieten my mind. To take my mind off whatever is bothering me. And by doing this I end up with something to hold in my hands at the end of it; a product of my over active mind needing a break. Sometimes these things find their way back to the source of such disquiet and sometimes they do not.
I always make sure that the item in question is given to the person it was originally intended for at the start. Because it only seems right and that’s just the way I roll, knitting wise.
I was thinking of making one in a different colour but i’m not sure it would be quite right. Pianos have a certain beauty in being monochrome, I think. To change that would make them more complicated and in doing so less elegant.
‘Cause it’s messy yes this mess is mine
Though mine is messy yours is maybe nine
Look we have similar stitches
Look we have similar frowns
Do the eldery couples still
Kiss and hug and grab their big wrinkly skin so tough wrinkly wrink-wrink-wrinkly rough?
